Instructions for (Candidates) Authors of JHMS: Journal of Health and Medical Science

Articles written for JHMS include topics in the field of health and medical science, including research results, literature studies, and community health service. The manuscript is typed using the Microsoft Word program, Times New Roman font, size 12 pts, with 1.15 spacing; printed on A4 paper with a minimum length of 7 pages and a maximum of 20 pages. Margins: Top 2.54 cm, Left 2.54 cm, Bottom 2.54 cm, Right 2.54 cm. Manuscripts are submitted through the online submission system (OJS) via the author’s registered account.

Articles may be written in Indonesian or English. The article systematics are: title, author’s name, author’s institution, email, abstract along with keywords, introduction, methods, results and discussion, conclusions, and reference list.

The article title cannot exceed 20 words. The title is printed in capital letters, centered, with a font size of 14 pts.

The name of the author is included without academic degrees, accompanied by the institution of origin and email address, and placed under the title of the article. In the case of a manuscript written by a team, the editor only communicates with the main author whose name is listed first. The main author must include an active email address.

Abstracts and keywords are written in Indonesian and English, using Times New Roman font, size 10 pts, spacing 1.15. The length of each abstract is 150–250 words, while the number of keywords is 3–5 words. The abstract contains brief objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

The introduction section contains the background, context of the study, results of the literature review, and research objectives. All introductory sections are presented in an integrated form in paragraphs, with a length of 15–20% of the total article length.

The methods section contains a description of the research design, data sources, data collection techniques, instruments, and data analysis, with a length of 10–15% of the total article length.

The discussion section contains the results of the analysis, presentation of research findings, interpretation, and comparison with relevant theories or previous studies.

The conclusions section contains research findings in the form of answers to research questions or the essence of the results of the discussion. Conclusions are presented in paragraph form.

The reference list only contains sources cited in the article, and all cited sources must be listed in the reference list. At least 80% of references should come from scientific publications within the last 10 years. References may include books, internet sources, research articles in journals, or research reports (including theses and dissertations). Articles published in scientific journals are recommended as primary references.

Citation and referencing use the author-date system (last name, year). Direct quotations must include page numbers. Example: (Davis, 2003: 47).

The reference list is arranged alphabetically and chronologically.

All references cited in the text must be listed in the Reference List section. The Reference List must contain reference literature originating from primary sources (scientific journals, minimum 80%) published in the last 5 (five) years. Each article must contain at least 10–15 references. The use of reference management applications such as Mendeley or Zotero is recommended. The writing format used in JHMS follows the APA (American Psychological Association) style.
